More than 400 students from Cahul, Cantemir, Leova and Taraclia took part in IT Career Expo Cahul 2026, an event dedicated to guiding young people toward careers in information technology. Throughout the day, participants interacted directly with representatives of IT companies, explored educational stands and attended workshops on artificial intelligence, IT careers, digital marketing, robotics and digital product development.
“Whether we are talking about economics, law, education sciences or agriculture, IT skills are extremely important. I am glad you came to see what opportunities exist in the region and I would like to encourage you to develop your digital skills. Those who are currently wondering where to continue their studies should know that starting this year several new IT programs will appear here in Cahul. If you choose to study here, you will see significant transformation and will be proud to have graduated here in Cahul,” said Viorel Bostan, Rector of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM).
The event is organized annually to build a connection between students, educational institutions and companies from the technology sector.
“For several years we have been organizing these IT career guidance sessions in four districts: Cahul, Leova, Taraclia and Cantemir. Both the Inotek Centre and “B. P. Hasdeu” State University of Cahul are open to guide and inform you in this field, because these are the professions of the future,” said Nicolae Mocanu, Administrator of the Inotek Centre, Cahul.
The expo area brought together companies and organizations from the technology and education sectors, including Orange Systems, Moldcell, Allied Testing, Coherent Solutions, Halley KM, Impact Academy, TEKEDU and Draexlmaier, alongside the Inotek Centre, the “B. P. Hasdeu” State University of Cahul, the “Iulia Hasdeu” College, Vocational School No. 2 Cahul and the Young Makers Club.
“We are very proud to support this event and we believe that the southern region of Moldova and Cahul have great potential, with many opportunities, activity, creativity and culture,” said Thomas Alveteg, First Secretary and Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova.
The strong participation of students confirmed the growing interest in information technology and in professional development opportunities in the region.
“When a young person is at the beginning of their journey and choosing a career, it is very important to think about what they want in life. I believe they should choose a profession that is interesting to them, useful to society and that brings personal fulfillment. Seeing so many young people gathered here today makes me confident that our Moldova has a future,” said Ina Caciura, Head of DMCFP.
The event is organized by the Inotek Centre and the “B. P. Hasdeu” State University of Cahul, with financial support from Sweden through the Inotek4Cahul project, as well as support from the Governments of Germany and Switzerland through the “Strong Businesses and Communities for Moldova” project, implemented by GIZ Moldova, together with strategic partners ATIC and the Cahul Municipality.
