Over 400 teachers from the south of the country are revolutionizing education and the future of students in the region!

In the last years, the education system in the Republic of Moldova has begun to adapt to the demands of an expanding digital world, and the development of relevant skills has become essential. In this context, the “Tekwill in Every School” program continues its mission to connect education to the imperatives of the present and the future and continues to contribute to the development of human capital thanks to the support provided by Inotek - EU Innovation Centre Cahul within the framework of the “Inotek4Cahul” grant funded by Sweden.

This year, 103 teachers from Taraclia, Cahul, Cantemir and Leova regions have enrolled and are participating in the “Tekwill in Every School” training program, which includes two stages: the training program, which took place in July - August 2024, and the mentoring program that will take place during the 2024 - 2025 academic year. Teachers enrolled in the program study and will teach courses such as Algorithm Programming in C/C++, Web Design and Development, Graphic Design, Artificial Intelligence, etc. as optional or extracurricular subjects.

“Empowering teachers with digital skills is crucial for training the future workforce in Moldova and for increasing the country’s resilience in a constantly changing technological landscape. Sweden is proud to support the “Tekwill in Every School” initiative, which not only equips teachers but also inspires students, especially girls, to pursue innovative careers in STEM fields. This program is an essential step towards ensuring a brighter and technology-oriented future for Moldova,” said Her Excellency Katarina Fried, Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova.

“The participation of teachers from southern Moldova in the “Tekwill in Every School” program is an important step towards educational integration in an increasingly digitalized world. Improving the digital skills of teachers not only raises standards in education, but also prepares students for the challenges and opportunities of a technology-based economy. We are proud to contribute to this transformation and support the development of a generation of young people who will shape the future,” said Nicolae Mocanu, Administrator Inotek - EU Innovation Centre Cahul.

Developing digital skills – the key to success in modern education

Through the partnership between the Inotek Center and ATIC, teachers will continue to be fully involved in the digital transformation process of the education system, and the region will continue to be connected to the most revolutionary program to date, which has changed the career path or provided new skills to over 78,600 enrolled students.

In the southern region, teachers who want to offer their students access to the „Tekwill in Every School” program, receive training in the 9 available areas, including Algorithm Programming in C/C++, Web Design and Development, Graphic Design and Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Application Design and Development, Entrepreneurship, etc. Teacher training is carried out by experts from the private sector, professionals with extensive experience, with training sessions being conducted in both Romanian and Russian.

Ernest Bîtca, mentor of the Web Design and Development course and professor at the Technical University of Moldova, emphasizes the importance of teacher involvement in the program: „Teachers from southern Moldova have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to digital education. Their involvement in the program brings not only immediate benefits to schools, but also a more solid preparation for graduates. Working at UTM, I notice that students who come from the regions involved in this program are better prepared and more motivated. This highlights the importance of teaching IT and STEM subjects, which are essential for success in modern education.”

Digital education is no longer an option, but a necessity to prepare young generations to face the technological challenges of the future. With each passing year, we see an increased interest from teachers in acquiring digital skills, especially in the areas of IT, AI and Entrepreneurship.
