Online Safety Workshop for Parents

How can we talk to children and keep them safe online?

When children face a problem online, it is important for them to know they can turn to someone at home for help. How can we recognise the signs of a risky situation and start a conversation in which a child feels heard?

On 16 November 2026, we are holding an online safety workshop for parents and caregivers at the Inotek Centre as part of the Online Safety Caravan. Together with Marius Dumitrașcu, Head of Training and Partnerships at CYBERCOR, participants will explore situations children encounter in games, apps and social media, and practise ways to prevent and respond to risks.

Workshop topics

The programme combines explanations with practical exercises on participants’ phones, group discussions and role-play, covering four topics:

  • Online interactions and manipulation: recognising risky interactions, pressure and inappropriate requests in games and apps.
  • Scams, harassment and false content: identifying suspicious links, fake accounts, scam attempts and images manipulated using artificial intelligence.
  • Family communication: talking to children about their online experiences and agreeing together on rules for gaming, social media and sharing photos.
  • Responding to an incident: steps to take, blocking and reporting accounts, and using privacy settings and two-step verification.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have practical recommendations, rules to discuss as a family, a checklist of safety settings and information about available support resources.

The workshop is intended for parents and caregivers of children and teenagers from Cahul and the southern region. Participation is free.
