DeepFake Hackathon: Build solutions to combat online disinformation

Online disinformation is one of the most pressing challenges of modern society, undermining trust in institutions and social cohesion.

On April 23–25, 2026, at the Inotek Center in Cahul, you will turn critical thinking and technical skills into a digital solution that tackles this phenomenon.

What is DeepFake Hackathon?

DeepFake Hackathon is a three-day event where you build functional prototypes (MVPs) designed to detect and combat online disinformation.

You will work in teams of 3–5 people and have access to mentors specialized in IT, Artificial Intelligence, media, fact-checking, and digital ethics. Mentors will support your team throughout the entire event.

Program journey

Preparation meet-up: understand manipulation mechanisms and patterns of fake news. Align concepts and define a shared technical framework.
Info session: receive full details about the judging process, evaluation criteria, and jury expectations.
Hackathon (April 23–25): build, test, and refine your solution with mentor support.
Final pitch: present your prototype to the jury, and the top three teams will be awarded.

What you should know before applying

  • Participation is free.
  • You can apply individually — teams will be formed during the preparation meet-up.
  • Accommodation is provided for participants coming from the region, subject to availability.
  • The event will be conducted entirely in Romanian.
