The third edition of IT Career Expo Cahul brought together over 700 participants. The event took place on April 9 and served as a platform for career orientation and connection between youth and opportunities in the IT field.
IT Career Expo, held in Cahul, is a regional event that promotes careers in the IT sector and connects visitors with the tech industry. Young people from 42 educational institutions in Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, and Taraclia, along with representatives from over 20 companies, took part in the activities prepared by the organizers. They enjoyed:
-
Nine themed workshops, led by mentors in programming, graphic design, AI, 3D modeling, and printing;
-
An expo zone with interactive booths and tech demonstrations: virtual reality, robotics, wiring, programming, 3D printing;
-
Career guidance and networking opportunities;
-
The Heroes of Tech competition.
"IT Career Expo Cahul 2025 brought together hundreds of 9th to 12th grade students curious to learn what an IT career means and how they can take their first steps in this field. We’re happy that, through our work at Inotek, we can build bridges between education and industry, between young people and professionals. It’s a natural step in our mission to support digital education in the south of the country and to encourage every young person to believe that their future can start here," said Maria Pădure, STEM Manager at the Inotek Foundation.
Students attending IT Career Expo Cahul also had the opportunity to participate in the Heroes of Tech competition. Participants presented 12 digital solutions to community problems in the areas of health, education, environment, and responsible consumption. Three of these were selected as winners:
-
1st place – ShieldWaveAI, a smart security system created by Andrei Arseni, awarded a smartphone;
-
2nd place – SaveIt, a budgeting and financial planning app developed by Vladislav Col, awarded a tablet;
-
3rd place – a smart potable water management project by Victor Denisenco, awarded a portable speaker.
"Participating in Heroes of Tech gave me not just the opportunity to show what I can do, but also the hope that my work can make a real impact. I want to continue developing solutions that help my community, and this competition gave me the motivation to pursue my career in IT," said Andrei Arseni, 1st place winner.
"I'm glad that IT Career Expo continues to inspire young people in the south of the country year after year. I had the opportunity to show them how a passion for design, technology, and creativity can become a meaningful and authentic professional path," said Iana Chifiac, mentor of the graphic design workshop.

Each teacher attending the event received a copy of the book “Vreau în IT” (“I Want into IT”), offered by mentor and author Svetlana Demciucova. An interactive raffle encouraged participants to explore the event. Young people who demonstrated the best knowledge of the opportunities showcased at the expo and interacted with the highest number of mentors were entered into the draw. 14 winners received prizes such as backpacks, portable speakers, wireless headphones, smartwatches, and other gadgets.
“For the Embassy of Sweden, it is important to support the development of the southern region of Moldova. We see great potential in Inotek to promote IT careers for youth and to create real opportunities. IT Career Expo is a clear example that inspires students to explore the tech field and to build a future in this sector,” said Josefine Lønroth, Second Secretary for ICT Development Cooperation of the European Union in Moldova, representing the Embassy of Sweden.
The event is part of the “I Choose a Career in IT” campaign, organized by Inotek under the Inotek4Cahul project, with support from Sweden and in partnership with Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu State University, the Cahul City Hall, ATIC, and Fruct Expert.
