Cahul Regional Museum, a leader in digitization and museum innovation

Visitors from the country and abroad, interested in exploring the history and traditions of the Cahul region, can now enjoy an enhanced experience thanks to a successful digital transformation project implemented by the Cahul County Museum. The undertaken actions focused on equipping the museum with modern digital technologies, information systems, and innovative solutions, aimed at amplifying the institution's role and impact in conserving, protecting, and promoting cultural heritage, increasing the institution's operational efficiency, and adapting to contemporary visitor needs. Additionally, the Cahul County Museum has become the first museum in the country to integrate an online ticket payment system.

The digitization project was carried out in partnership with the Cahul City Hall and with the support of the "EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul" Project, financed by the European Union and Sweden and implemented by the National Association of ICT Companies. The project's value was 975 thousand lei.

The museum plays an essential role in educating the public about the history and traditions of the Cahul region, offering visitors the opportunity to explore and understand the cultural and historical developments of this area. With an impressive collection of over 38 thousand historical museum pieces, covering all eras from prehistory to the present day, the museum offers a rich picture of the cultural heritage of the Cahul region.

The museum's digitization project included a series of important actions such as producing digital content and materials, creating a network of QR codes and developing an information playback system, as well as creating the museum's identity and developing its website. The project has improved the museum's accessibility and attractiveness, offering visitors an interactive and accessible experience. The online ticket payment system has made visiting the museum more satisfying and allows for more efficient resource management.

The Cahul County Museum now benefits from a cohesive and strong visual identity, making it more accessible and attractive to online visitors. The implementation of a QR code management system allows quick access to museum information, and the strengthened social media presence attracts a broader and more diverse audience. Texts, photos, illustrations, and videos have been created to enhance the visitor experience, and the integration of audio narratives offers a more immersive and informative tour. The installation of an advanced payment system enables visitors to purchase tickets online and make payments seamlessly.

State-of-the-art equipment has been installed within the museum to ensure uninterrupted service. High-capacity smartphones and tablets are used for ticket validation and payment processing, and for streamlining documentation and promotion processes, the museum has been equipped with advanced photography and filming equipment. The new official website, integrated with an advanced management system, provides detailed information about exhibitions and ticket purchasing options. The modernization of the local digital infrastructure ensures the optimal functioning of the new systems.
